This batch of video clips covers both recent views of Tokyo (mostly in Shinjuku) and trips back to 1993 (viewing stops on the Tozai Line), and 1991 (views from a train returning to Tokyo from Niigata, and of Kuroiso). The Kuroiso clip is possibly of some interest, as I explore an old abandoned house (still full of its deceased owner's things!), which was built in the old style. In the clip taken while returning from Niigata, I interact with other people also returning to Tokyo from Niigata ski slopes. Times change - people of the same age now don't look the same, talk the same, or act the same (as 1991 I mean - they often look, talk, and act the same as each other of course). So - shy of having access to a time machine, video views from 1991 and 1993 Japan are a way of seeing how it was. And then looking at the 2011 clips is a way to get future shock - if you get into the 1991-93 atmosphere that is....

This is the last part of "Going east on the Tozai Line" - recorded on Friday, June 25th, 1993 - where I was stopping at each stop on the Tozai Line and taking a brief look around. Towards the end of this one, I make a U-turn at Mozen-Nakacho and then go to Shinjuku via the Marunouchi Line and then am suddenly in Ikebukuro....
